Van Ooij family tree
For generations, there is a rumour wandering through our family. A rumour that we are indirect descendants of the lords of Ooij. These lords were feudal lords for the Duke of Gelre. The direct line of the Lords of Ooij extinct in the 17th century. As will be apparent from the genealogical data, I did not succeed in finding a link between our family and the lords of Ooij. For the time being, I see it more as a “romantic” rumour instead of a real one.
The characteristic of “our” van Ooij family is that they were Catholic and lived for generations in the Ooijpolder, especially in Kekerdom, a small village between Ooij and Millingen. I would like to thank Jan van Ooij from Wijchen for sharing his information. Furthermore, I would like to thank Guido van Bentham for his advice and for sharing the information from his website.
Seijkens family tree
The Seijkens family originates from the eastern part of North Brabant, especially around Deurne and the Eindhoven area. Part of the data from this family tree is obtained from research by Antoon Seijkens from Venray.
Van de Mortel family tree
This family tree was initially studied by Jan van de Mortel from Deurne-Zeilberg. However, some errors have crept into the data of Jan van de Mortel. I have gratefully used the fourth edition of the book of Cor van de Mortel “Genealogy of two Deurnesche families “Van de Mortel”” to improve this family tree. This extensive family tree dates back to the mid of the 13th century. Although it was said that there might be a possible link with Charlemagne, this has not yet been proven. I would like to thank Cor for his tip on the mistakes.
Finally, I thank the ethnographic society, H.N. Ouwerling Deurne, for making some photos available.
